Doug Kneller is Board Certified by the state of Florida in the practice of divorce and family law, with over two decades of experience in Florida judicial system. He possesses a broad understanding of the legal complexities of his legal specialty and is periodically asked to serve as an expert witness in lawsuits involving divorce malpractice. Few divorce attorneys share his knowledge, dedicated work ethic and professionalism. With this level of proficiency, Mr. Kneller has a well-founded reputation among his colleagues and the judges throughout the Florida courts.

In the specialized and increasingly complex arena of marital and family law, Mr. Kneller has represented clients in well over 1,000 divorces in Volusia, Flagler, Seminole and Orange counties. He is a certified Family Mediator, has served as a Guardian Ad Litem, and contributes to a number of children's charities. Mr. Kneller's expertise in Florida family law affords him unique speaking engagement and publishing opportunities within the legal community.

Mr. Kneller's practice has led to several notable appellate decisions in the Fifth District Court of Appeals regarding business valuations and the superiority of alimony versus unsecured debts. As a longtime member of the Family Law Section, he was substantially involved in authoring the Termination of Parental Rights statute, a case involving an incarcerated father. This particular case gained national attention, including an appearance by Mr. Kneller on The Today Show. 

Mr. Kneller has been active in various Florida Bar Associations. He graduated with honors from New England Law (Boston, MA) and studied political science at Purdue University.

The partnership of ifloridadivorce.com LLC was formed in 2016 by Doug Kneller and Thérèse Misita Truelove. The practice continues to be solely dedicated to marital and family law.

Uncommon Insight into the inner workings of the family unit

Thérèse Misita Truelove has been a licensed Florida attorney since the year 2000. After graduating from the University of Florida College of Law, she remained in Gainesville, practicing criminal defense, personal injury and children’s law in Alachua County. The respresentation of the law enforcement community and the representing of abused, abandoned and neglected children were the focus of her practice in the early years of her practice.

Prior to attending law school, Thérèse worked as a legal assistant, paralegal and judicial assistant in Volusia County, where a growing love of the judicial system and the desire to help people led her to pursue legal studies. After law school and twenty years practice in north central Florida, the desire to live nearer to family and friends prompted Thérèse to return to her roots on the east coast. She began practicing law in Daytona Beach with Doug Kneller in 2014.

In 2016, Mr. Kneller and Ms. Truelove formed the partnership of ifloridadivorce.com LLC. The practice continues to be devoted exclusively to divorce and family law, with the reciprocal goal of providing quality legal services to individual and families in Volusia County and surrounding areas.

Thérèse believes that every person deserves justice, regardless of their social status or financial position. Her prior work with legal issues surrounding children and families in the state of Florida gives her uncommon insight into the inner workings of the family unit. Thérèse understands the stress and discomfort associated with having to seek out the services of an attorney and dealing with important issues and adversity in daily life. She cares deeply about the people who entrust her with their very personal legal matters.

Thérèse is licesned to practice in all Federal courts in the state of Florida and is a member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, and the Seventh Judicial Circuit Bar Association.

We are pleased to have our Associate Attorney Mikaela Nordman on board. She is a top-notch addition to the iFloridaDivorce team.

Mikaela grew up in DeLand, Florida, where she graduated high school in 2013. She earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology at the University of Florida and pursued her legal studies in Gainesville as well, at the Levin College of Law, graduating in May, 2019 with her Juris Doctor.

Mikaela worked as a file clerk at various law firms in Alachua County throughout college and law school and was sworn in to the Florida Bar on September 20, 2019, surrounded by her proud family.

Mikaela follows in the footsteps of her father, Deland Attorney Michael P. Nordman, who is Board Certified in Real Property law and for 16 years has practiced Real Property, Probate and Trust law.

Mikaela is a member of the Volusia County Bar Association, the Volusia|Flagler Association for Women Lawyers, the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar, and the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar.

She loves music and plays piano and guitar.

C. David Hood, Jr . 1954-2019

Our condolences to the family and community of Judge Hood. His intelligence and integrity made the world a better place.

Retired Circuit Court Judge C. David Hood, Jr. presided in the Unified Family Court division of the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court in in Volusia County and was uniquely qualified to serve of counsel to iFloridadivorce.com.LLC

Judge Hood was appointed to the circuit bench in 2014. Before becoming a judge, he served as a legislator in the Florida House of Representatives. He has also served as a city commissioner and as Mayor of Ormond Beach, Florida. He earned his undergraduate and juris doctor degrees from the University of South Carolina.
